Australia inflation gauge hits 20-month high, Aussie gains ground
Australia's MI inflation guage jumped 0.9% in July, up sharply from 0.1% in June. The RBA is widely expected to cut rates on Aug. 12 as inflation has been contained. US nonfarm payrolls were weaker than expected, as the cracks in the labor market appear to be wider than previously expected.

Australian inflation lower than forecast, Fed up next
Australia's inflation rated dropped to 2.1% in Q2, which was lower than expected. This cements a quarter-point rate from the RBA at the August meeting. The Fed meets today and is widely expected to maintain rates for a fifth straight meeting.
