Better-Than-Expected Jobless Claims Boosts Dollar

The dollar gained on both the yen and the euro in trading in New York this morning on news that new jobless claims for the week ended November 20th fell to 407,000 from 441,000 the previous week. Earlier estimates called for the number of new claimants to fall to 435,000.
