Spain to Cut Spending to Curb Debt

Citing the inevitability for the need to reduce spending, Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero announced a series of government spending cuts aimed at reducing the country’s addition to deficit spending. Predictably, reaction from the country’s public unions echoed that of Greece’s trade organizations, with union leaders calling for a “massive response” to protest the government’s perceived abandonment of its socialist principles.
