The French jobless rate rose in the third quarter to 10.6% from 10.3% in the second, French national statistics agency Insee said Thursday.
The figure includes data from continental France and overseas districts. Excluding overseas districts, the unemployment rate in France rose to 10.2% in the third quarter, or 2.9 million people, from 10% in the previous quarter.
The number of people who would like to work but aren’t counted among the ranks of the unemployed was 1.4 million, Insee said, 64,000 fewer than in the third quarter 2014.
