European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker says the Greek government is to present no later than early next week the reform plans that are key to unlocking urgently needed rescue funds.
Addressing a plenary of the European Parliament on Wednesday, Juncker said Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras had told him he was “ready to present his reforms by the end of this week, beginning of next week.”
The long-awaited reform plans would then set off a furious schedule of meetings culminating in negotiations between the finance ministers of the 19 euro nations, who would decide if or when to unlock the funds for Greece.
European leaders have become increasingly exasperated by what many see as foot-dragging on the part of Tsipras’ government.
