Japan’s Exports Ease in June

Growth in Japan’s exports unexpectedly eased in June, exacerbating concerns about how a slowdown in China’s economy is affecting the world’s third largest economy.

Exports rose for a fourth month in a row at 7.4 percent from the previous year, but were markedly below expectations of 10.3 percent, and below May’s rise of 10.1 percent.

Imports rose 11.8 percent on year in the month, also below expectations of a 14 percent rise, as the economy continues to suffer from high energy import costs.
