Fewer Workers Claim US Unemployment Benefits

The number of unemployed workers filing for benefits was less than expected last week according to the US Labor Department. Applications for unemployment insurance payments rose by 2,000 to 439,000 in the week ended Nov. 13, while the total number of people collecting unemployment insurance dropped to the lowest level in two years. However, the number of workers receiving extended payments continued to climb.
