German Consumer Confidence Rebounds to 3-Year High

Germany’s consumer confidence as measured by an index maintained by market research firm Gfk, rose from a reading of 4.3 last month to 4.9 for the current month. Despite a forecast of only 4.2, the actual result bested a three-year high and provides further evidence that Germany’s economic recovery is expanding.

“Consumers currently expect the economic upturn to continue in the coming months,” said GfK in a statement. “In this context, the public clearly sees a realistic prospect of income growth, which is itself helping to stimulate the propensity to buy.”
