US New Jobless Claims Fall

The number of new claims for unemployment in the US fell by 24,000 to a seasonally-adjusted 456,000. The result was slightly below predictions of 455,000.

For the month of March, 162,000 new jobs were created – the most in three years but the unemployment rate remains mired at 9.7 percent.
