Germany Says IMF Must Be Part of Greek Solution

Germany released a number of conditions it says must be met before it would be willing to contribute direct aid to Greece. These conditions include:

  • the International Monetary Fund (IMF) must make a “substantial contribution” to any rescue package
  • Greece would be prevented from borrowing from credit markets
  • EU must implement further “instruments” to prevent EU-member states from running up massive debts in the future
