Rogers Shuns Sterling

Famed investor and hedge fund innovator Jim Rogers, said today that he is taking pains to limit his exposure to the pound because of the growing UK trade deficit. Rogers’ comments are just another in a recent string of pronouncements casting the pound in questionable light.

“I doubt I will own sterling in my lifetime,” said Rogers who co-founded the Quantum Fund with George Soros. Soros made $1billion when he famously shorted the pound in 1992.

“Things are pretty bad for sterling for the long, long, long term,” Rogers said in an interview with Bloomberg. “I cannot imagine buying sterling back unless it gets really cheap.”
