Europe Likely to be Cautious over Jackson Hole

European shares are set for a lower open on Friday as investors await key speeches by central bank heads with the anticipation that monetary policy will remain supportive in the near term.

According to IG, the FTSE is called down 3 points at 6,775, the German Dax is seen off by 8 points at 9,394 and the French CAC is seen lower by 3 points at 4,290.

Investors await possible clues about the future path of interest rates with U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen due to speak at the symposium at 3 p.m. London time. The speech is widely expected to be dovish, but the Fed’s hawkish July meeting minutes earlier in the week have added some doubt for some market participants.
